The "SOLAR ASSOCIATION TILOO" has set itself the goal of promoting solar cookers and other sun-based technologies in Gambia, a sun-rich but economically challenged country.
Our main concern is to improve the living conditions of the poorer segments of the population and reduce the deforestation pressure on the locally endangered forests. In addition, by using the energy of the Sun we can reduce local CO2 emissions which partly contribute to man-made climate change.
We want to offer the Gambian people a way for them to help themselves with an emphasis on creating opportunities for women to improve their daily lives and generate additional income. Therefore, our projects are oriented by the following keywords:
Our project in Gambia is focused on training people on how to use solar cookers or tunnel dryers so that they can make and sell their own products. This allows them to prepare diverse beauty articles and food items such as soaps, cakes, biscuits, snacks or dried fruits, always in a clean and safe way.
